I want to be… different?

You will hear too many people saying that they want to be different from anyone else or maybe that they like being different and there you are, being different with hilarious thoughts like a thousand people in the world…

Well, I differ. There’s no one different than everyone else to begin with. It’s not possible for like you there are out there tons of people, maybe you don’t know them but they exist. You can’t live apart from the world because sooner or later you will find someone like you and create a team, a group or whatever. The very moment you find someone like you (and you’ll find them always because you will end up searching for them) you won’t be different anymore. So, why do you want to be different? Being different would mean that you don’t have anything in common with the rest of us, that you are like one of a kind, you are not from this world and you are.

Another point would be that you want to be different because you saw someone being like that before and you liked that kind of living. You agree with their thoughts and you want to imitate them. This is the point, imitate. Here, neither that person nor you are different, you two both are the same for you are imitating them and that person imitated someone else before you. Nobody is different and everybody lives to copy the lifestyle from other people. Our race is constantly loving and admiring people that we think they are upon us so high or maybe we put them on that pedestal in order to see them closely every detail about their life and, guess what? imitate them.

We’re always saying that children are like sponges because they are sucking on everything they find around them so we have to be careful with what we say and do but when we are adults, we’re still like those children, we’re still sucking on everything we find, we never leave that action of soaking ourselves with the things we love, but we’re very selective and precise and now we’re adult, each one decides what wants to suck on.

Now, since nobody can be different because we end up finding people like us and join them and that means that we are not different anymore and if you want to imitate the life from another human being because you agree with that human being, who are you going to imitate? Who do you want to be like?  I don’t want to be different and keep myself out of everyone. I want to be like Christ.

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Ephesians 5

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

1 Corinthians 11
