From time to time when I find myself tired of searching Americans or English series for watching I usually end on Viki watching any k-drama. It seems that these Koreans are the only persons in the world able of making my day. I find out that those boring days are pay off when I open Viki. This time? Beautiful Ghong Shim.
Like every romantic comedy, everything begins with good misunderstandings which end up developing such a fun good time because that tension ends soon and sooner you find out who will be the funny character in here. I didn’t know by then that I’d plunge myself in this kind of fun.
This about two sisters, the ugly one and the pretty one but the ugly one will be our main female character more than the pretty one. She’s Ghon Shim and is a time-part worker despite she would like being an artist and living through her true passion, drawing. In the beginning, it was pretty weird to hear that husky voice from her since I’m used to hearing nice voices from every female in these kinds of series, but I got used to it soon; it turns into something funny to hear linked by her personality.
Since she needs money, she decides to live in her sister’s wardrobe and put in rent her currently rooftop bedroom to someone and that someone will be our main male character Ahn Dan Tae. He’s a lawyer with a time-part job as a night-driver. He has strong feelings for poor people and he helps them to gain money and win in the court.
Ahn Dan Tae is the best, did you see his faces? What a goofy and lovable he is... Every single grimace he made was spectacular; he cracked me up all the time; it was a burst of laughter after another. The faces he makes are hilarious, and when he pushed Ghong Shim so hard just for taking advantage of her, both she and Ahn Dan Tae were awesome! I can’t stop laughing with their squabbles. You could say that this series is about comedy, well, not always, but I could say almost always. Why is not completely funny? That is because there’s a sad story behind those laughing moments.
It’s about a little kid from a wealthy family who was kidnapped and 26 years ago, his grandmother is still searching for him desperately and that’s the only matters to her. She’s always on a bad mood and she can’t help to treat so bad her another grandson because she recalls every time she sees his face how that kidnapping took place during his this other grandson’s birthday.
Of course, despite we have our main characters; you will know already that there’re more people being involved around them. Every one of them has their story as Gong Shim’s parents and sister or the Grandma’s family and their secrets. All of them are funny and sad stories you can enjoy, too, if you are ready for plunging yourself in this ocean of love, misunderstandings, treacheries, comedy, bad guys and good ones, as well.
